CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp at the J is all about kids having the freedom to learn and grow in an informal and nurturing setting while developing skills that prepare them for future success. Our camp culture is built on universally accepted moral ideals as well as strong Jewish values. We incorporate respect, honor, good sportsmanship and teamwork into all that we do.

All staff members are thoroughly screened and trained to provide a safe, fun and memorable summer. A registered nurse is on the premises to provide care and medical attention if needed.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT Program: Entering 10th Grade

Under direct supervision, teens will develop leadership skills through a hands-on experience engaging with campers, training from local professionals, and social programming to aid in networking with other Madatzim. The goals of this program are to prepare for teens for future work experiences, provide teens with training and skills to become effective leaders and role models, improve self-confidence, assist children in camp groups, and excel at handling responsibility resulting in a fun and productive summer. Theater CIT Program: Age 16
Talented teens explore their creative side and also go behind the scenes to learn lighting and stage techniques, set design, direction, stage management and lighting plots.

Manhigim: Grades 7-9
Tailor-made for adventurous, independent teens craving fun and friendship-filled summers. Campers hit the road every week to experience favorites like waterskiing, Rapids and state-of-the-art entertainment parks,
plus new and exciting ones we introduce every summer, in Florida and beyond. Campers also enjoy overnight and day trips to exciting attractions and on campus activities including sports, art, swim, trapeze, archery and more.

CAMP FACILITIES: Ninja Lounge is a state of the art sports and recreational facility located in the heart of North Miami. We feature several challenging and exciting attractions 10,000 square feet of trampoline space with 2 dodge ball courts, 3 basketball hoops, elevated rope courses, wall climbing, and a Tumble Trak for jumping and flipping. Ninja Lounge is also a certified Ninja Warrior training facility with obstacle courses for all ages.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: UWF's Explore Summer Camps present awesome opportunities for youth to widen horizons and discover new strengths. All of our programs are carefully designed to be engaging and fun. The summer 2020 season is from June 1 to August 7.

Instructors are certified teacher and are the best of the best. They are concerned about the welfare of all students, knowledgeable about their subject matter, work extremely well with parents, and are genuinely excited about teaching at UWF’s Explore Summer Camps. The safety of your child is our number one priority, and we take pride in our outstanding reputation in providing a very safe and enjoyable experience for your child. Our staff is full of energy and driven to provide motivating curriculum choices for you and your child. Everyone in the Explore Summer Camp staff has a thorough background check at the time of their assignment.

In addition, UWF Continuing Education and Explore Summer Camps have received top honors from the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) as well as from the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA). Both organizations recognize outstanding credit and non-credit programs throughout the Southern region.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Assembled for their talent, teaching ability, dedication, and enthusiasm for music, distinguished music professionals participate in HAPCO Jazz Band Camps. They include university professors, middle school and high school teachers, master, elective and lesson teachers, administrators, and undergraduate and graduate students who serve as counselors and mentors. Together, their knowledge and experience support an extraordinary educational opportunity where campers build confidence and develop good habits and attitudes that shape their future.

When the rehearsal are over, Overnight Campers will be able to take a break from their instrument while they explore Disney Parks, and participate in other fun activities with their fellow campers. While at camp, students will be supervised by our staff of Resident Camp Counselors. Meals are also taken care of (lunch for Day Campers and breakfast, lunch and dinner for our Overnight Campers).

At the end of the camp, students will perform in a concert at the Walt Disney World Resort Pleasure Island Downtown Disney on June 23rd, 2017.

This camp is for students who are currently in the 6th through 11th grade band and will be going into 7th through 12th grade the following school year and have played their instrument for at least one year.

HAPCO Jazz Band Camps (with Lead Instructors WyCliffe Gordon, Jeff Rupert, Scott Wilson, and Dr Otto Gomez) are designed to accommodate musicians ranging from the less experienced to the most talented, with a minimum of one year of training on their chosen instrument. It provides an excellent opportunity for young musicians to improve their individual performance skills as well as their ensemble playing ability.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our out of town campers are personally picked up at the Miami International Airport and brought to our camp. (about 20 minutes away) They stay in the college dorms with our awesome counselors - providing a total camp experience. Day campers enjoy a daily hot lunch in the UM cafeteria. CAMP FACILITIES: We feel that a camp experience should be one filed with the allure of living outdoors. Part of the experience is the soothing sounds of the Florida night. Our rustic cabins give the camper the perfect blend of the outdoor experience and a few comforts of home. Our cabins have 12-16 bunks, ceiling fans, power, storage shelves and a front porch. Teen campers enrolled in Camp Warrior live in more modern cabins complete with air conditioning, lofts, and a kitchenette. Bathhouses are located next to the cabin areas. Each bathhouse features toilets, sinks, and private shower stalls.

The flagship of our facilities is our newer 14,000 square foot activities center complete with 24 stall center isle barn, with tack rooms, wash bays, bathrooms and indoor skatepark. This 40 acre facility also houses our new high ropes challenge course designed by Project Adventure and our ATV track. Next to our activities center is our new camp office which includes a recording studio and comfortable, climate controlled activity room for Camp Warrior. An extensive renovation plan is in place over the next three years that will transform camp!

Another high point of Camp Indian Springs facilities is our natural fresh water spring. This natural wonder is over 40′ deep in some places! For most of the year the water flows clear and it always remains a refreshing 68 degrees. Indian Springs is internationally know as one of the best cave systems in the world to dive. Unfortunately we can’t offer this to our campers but we stay very busy catering to the divers in the off season. Tours can be arranged with Cave Connections.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Indian Springs, first established in 1965, is a fun-filled, action packed private summer resident camp for boys and girls ages 7-16. Located on 77 acres, camp is nestled beside the wooded springs of beautiful Wakulla Springs State Park amidst the Apalachicola and Wakulla Forest of North Florida. Camp Indian Springs offers a summer experience rich in fun, friendship, learning and extreme adventure. Camp Indian Springs is truly a place where a summer will last a lifetime!

While the Camp Indian Springs facilities and programs are terrific, we believe that it’s our camp staff that makes the summer experience truly special. Indian Springs counselors are great role models who are focused on the needs of campers, both in the cabins and in classes. What makes Camp Indian Springs stand out above the rest is our 90% staff return rate. Unlike most other summer camps you will not find a staff search on our web site or a Craigslist ad seeking staff. This is due to our extensive C.I.T. (Counselor-In-Training) program and high staff retention rate. Growing a staff within creates a competitive and safe environment to select the best of the best. More than half the staff have been at camp five years or more. All counselors are carefully selected for their camp skills and must possess superb references. All staff must go through an intensive one week staff training which includes effective cabin leadership, teaching skills, emergency procedures, CPR, first aide and a parent to counselor open forum.

High Seas Adventure Camp on our 70 foot yacht. Campers will get the chance to be on the crew of a real yacht as they travel. They will also experience treasure hunts as well as ride jet skis, and use our yachter-slide.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our C.I.T. program is one of our most valued Camp Indian Springs program. This program is vital to the success of our camp. This is where we grow the future camp staff and world leaders of tomorrow. Our Counselor In Training program is the first step to become a camp staff member. The program is for campers age 15 to 17 who desire to become camp staff. The program is designed to teach young men and women to become productive leaders and staff members. A majority of the camp’s current staff have come up through our C.I.T. program.

C.I.T.s are placed in a younger cabin with a Senior and Junior counselor and have a vital role in cabin leadership. C.I.Ts also take a C.I.T. only class and assist in other classes throughout the day.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We are open year round for group retreats, family camps, family reunions, and any other event possible.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We are open year-round for a tremendous and unforgettable experience for the whole family, school, sports team, or any other group! We have hosted countless retreat groups and they have all had incredibly memorable experiences. OTHER CAMP INFO: The Project Endeavor Experience takes students and faculty from around the globe and works with each participant to hone their skills and talents. Each participant will be assigned a team and each team will work with a team leader to design a project or perform a routine or create a masterpiece that will be shown to members of that given field at a final banquet. The team that is elected by members of that profession will be honored at the event and will be able to meet with the judges. As a part of the Project Endeavor experience, each team will base their project and the competition on behalf of a local charitable organization. The winning team will receive a donation on its behalf from Project Endeavor to the selected organization.

Entering 9th Grade
HADRACHA combines leadership training with a fun camp experience. LITs will work with campers and travel on field trips or participate in leadership and team building programs for 2 days. LITS will participate in mitzvah ("good deed") projects and trips. Additionally, one day will be spent at the JCC working on camp wide special events programming, and spending time with campers. An interview process and acceptance is required for admission into the LIT program. 25 Community Service hours will be awarded for each 4-week session.

Madrich CITs assist in camp groups and learn hands on skills as well as knowledge gained in leadership training sessions. Camp J Traditional Camp for children entering grades K-8 provides a well-rounded traditional camp program every week. Campers are placed into groups by age, and participate in a variety of activities like arts and crafts, recreation, music, science, dance, cooking and more!

Camp J Sports is an instructional and recreational sports program within the framework of the General Camp. Campers are placed into a group based on age and skill level, and practice and compete in a variety of sports including basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, volleyball, dodgeball, and more!

Specialty Camps give campers the opportunity to focus on learning new skills within a specific program area. Ages and dates vary by program. Programs this summer include theater, basketball, art, science, dance and more!

Our new director of Camp J, Betsy has been working at camp for 25 years. It’s a magical place where kids can be themselves and feel accepted and cared for. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer a Leadership Development Program for Grades 6-8. This program is the perfect blend of fun at camp, with experiential learning to put them on the path to becoming camp counselors. Participants spend time working with younger campers, learning through hands-on leadership training, and go on a special field trip just for the age group.

We also offer a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program for Grades 9-10. Our CIT Program prepares teens to work at camp. CITs are placed with a camper group and participate in workshops to learn child care and leadership skills, and gain valuable work experience.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: School's Out Days: Pack even more fun into your summer! Our School’s Out Day mini-camp program on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 bridge the end of school and the start of camp.

Saturday Night Out: Each month, the JCC also offers its
Saturday Night Out program for children. Drop your kids off for a fun night of pizza, games and activities with their friends and favorite counselors, while you enjoy a
night out! The program runs 6-11 p.m.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp J is a program of the Jack & Lee Rosen Jewish Community Center. We are a cultural institution whose mission is to serve local families and our entire community. Jewish values and culture are the foundation from which we derive our mission. We believe that these values – such as respect, honestly, friendship, and community – are universal.

The Southwest Orlando community is incredibly diverse, and this diversity is embraced in all of our programming. Our goal is to make all campers feel comfortable and included. We are not a religious institution, although we sometimes sing songs with Hebrew words (usually the word “shalom”, or “peace” is a prominent theme), and we do a brief Shabbat celebration on Friday afternoon, which includes a song session filled with spirit (“ruach”) and eating challah bread. We also bring a counselor from Israel to lead our arts and crafts activities, with the intention of exposing our children to a different culture and building a relationship between our communities.

CAMP FACILITIES: Each location offers its own unique facilities. New York City itself is the world's greatest sound stage. The Los Angeles campus enable students to film on actual backlots. Other camp facilities include: dormitories, dining hall, classrooms, sound stages, and edit labs.

Programs available to teens, ages 14-17, include Filmmaking, Acting for Film, 3D Animation, Game Design. Screenwriting, Photography, Musical Theatre, Broadcast Journalism, Music Video, Documentary Filmmaking, and Graphic Design, spanning from 1 to 6 weeks in length.

Programs available to kids, ages 10-13, include Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Musical Theatre, Photography, 3D Animation, and Game Design. Kids programs are offered in 1 or 2-week camps throughout the summer season. All programs are coed. Room and board is an additional fee for teen programs. Housing is not provided for kids camps. CAMP FACILITIES: We have multiple classroom spaces for instruction, a multi-purpose room for rehearsals, outdoor patio area to lunch in, and a professional theatre venue that we perform in.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Inside Out Theatre has been serving South Florida with a variety of theatre classes, programs and productions since it began in 1998. The company is a 501(C) not-for-profit organization whose mission is addressing social and community concerns and building character through the performing arts. The company has received numerous awards for its work and produces an average of eight musicals a year. While the Intensives aim to put up a Broadway musical in a concentrated time and professional atmosphere, the Summer Conservatory is a unique program that offers students instruction in a variety of theatre arts while they create an original production based on a socially relevant theme.

Classes include voice, dance, mime, physical comedy, improv, stage-make-up, Shakespeare, audition techniques, film/commercial acting, play-writing, and more. No matter what program a student is involved in, Inside Out Theatre strives to create a positive and creative atmosphere which allows each individual the opportunity for maximum growth, fun, close bonds with new friends and the best summer experience possible!
