CAMP FACILITIES: Originally built to house a preschool, the church facility has plenty of space for smaller classes and for big meeting places. The church Sanctuary allows an end-of-the-week performance by the campers.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: GA Music Camp was founded as the Northeast Georgia Summer Guitar Camp in the summer of 2012 by Buford, GA based classical guitarist Derwyn Browne. In 2017, to reflect its wider scope, it was renamed The GA Music Camp. Serving only 5 campers the first year, the camp has grown steadily to a current capacity of 25 -30 campers. The guitar remains the primary focus of the camp but the curriculum has expanded to include flute and vocal performance, all presented with an emphasis on ensemble performance..
Since 2013, Mr. Browne, as he is affectionately called by his students, began bringing in select professionals to enhance the Camp experience. This led to a collaboration with an old friend and mentor, Russell Ferrara. Ferrara, who is an accomplished classical guitarist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, works closely with Mr. Browne to oversee the Camp. He has directed the Camp ensemble for the past five years, providing original musical arrangements to be performed by the students in the week-ending performances. He also provides encouragement in his stellar faculty performances, which often includes resident campers. The student performance is considered the highlight of the camp week, allowing campers at all levels to display their skills.
In 2016, Dr. Kim Robson joined the team. She brings strong musicianship and artistry to the Camp. An accomplished vocalist and flutist, Dr. Kim adds a depth and breadth to the students’ musical experience.
This year, Kathy Mason, Middle School Band Director, joins us for our week long session, concentrating on music theory. Mickey Smith, Jr., energetic, magnetic, and award-winning music teacher and musician from Louisiana, also joins us, bringing his vast experience, to teach improvisation techniques.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): At the end of a week of fun and learning, students are able to share what they learned during the week in a student Showcase Friday evening. Parents and friends are invited and are always surprised at what their student has accomplished in one week!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts, the official school of Georgia Dance Theatre, is one of the southeast’s premier schools for performing arts education. It was established in 1990 by Founder and Artistic Director, Sherri Davis. The Academy is located in Peachtree City and Newnan, Georgia. Since its inception, Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts has been dedicated to building a positive future in the performing arts from the classical to the contemporary.
To help foster this positive future, Davis founded Georgia Dance Theatre, a non-profit, civic organization, in 1990 to provide the serious student an intense study of dance and an opportunity to perform, while offering an avenue for those interested in pursuing a professional career in dance. In 1996, Georgia Dance Theatre Professional Company was established in order to expose these students to a higher level of dance. Today, Georgia Dance Theatre continues to be a growing company gaining recognition for its achievements all over the nation. Additionally, the company reaches thousands of people annually with professional performances, educational and outreach programs, and participating in charitable organizations and events. This scholarship program continues to provide opportunities for aspiring artists.
From 1990-2006, Georgia Academy of Dance offered classes in all genres of dance including ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, ballroom, and more. In 2007, Georgia Academy of Dance became Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts with the addition of various music programs to provide other performing arts instruction and education. Today, Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts provides training from top professionals in all areas of dance and music and resides as the largest performing arts school south of the Atlanta Ballet.
Students of Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts have received fine arts scholarships and acceptances to professional performing companies and colleges throughout the United States and abroad. Additionally, Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts provides over $125,000 annually in performing arts scholarships to students possessing talent, dedication, and commitment to the performing arts. In addition, Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts has been selected to partner with the Partners in Education Programs and the Youth Apprenticeship Programs for the Board of Education of both Fayette and Coweta counties.
Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts believes that the arts can bring courage, perseverance, and self-esteem to any child. Our mission is to provide a positive atmosphere where the potential artist in each may be explored and given the opportunity to thrive. Our dedication gives students the opportunity to achieve their highest potential and gives the community a chance to be a part of such achievement within the cultural arts.
Every year, the local community is entertained and inspired by professional productions, including The Nutcracker Ballet – a holiday classic and family tradition. Georgia Dance Theatre’s production of the Nutcracker Ballet has been honored to receive recognition from such established arts organizations as Fayette Community Endowment Committee and the Georgia Council of the Arts.

Joey was just 11 years old when his parents, Morris and Sheila Waldman, founded Camp Ocala in 1970. Starting his employment in 1975, his 5 years as a counselor and a certified aquatics instructor, prepared Joey for his athletics director position when his parents started Camp Blue Ridge. He has been a camper, counselor, unit leader, a head counselor, athletic director, program director, an assistant director and of course, now, runs Camp Blue Ridge with all the knowledge and heart he has gained.
Lori taught for 33 years, every grade from 2nd through high school. She started working at Camp Blue Ridge when she and Joey married. Having been to summer camp herself in her early years, her love of camp was already there. At Camp Blue Ridge, she is the healthcare manager, program director and the off-season retreat/conference center coordinator.
